The Wildling Art Museum offered a day-long program on November 14 under the auspices of Santa Barbara City College Continuing Education Program. Entitled Art at the Wildling Art Museum: Dick Smith and the Santa Barbara Back Country, it provided background information on the current exhibition, Dick Smith and His Back Country Wilderness, and enlightened students about the San Rafael and Dick Smith Wilderness Areas, their topography, flora and fauna, and historic sites.
The program began at 10 a.m. at the Museum, 2329 Jonata Street in Los Olivos, where students met with Jessica Reichman, curator of the exhibition. After lunch the class reconvened in the afternoon to see a slide presentation by Ray Ford, author of A Hikers Guide to the Dick Smith Wilderness, and other hiking maps.
