In
honor of California Museum Month, Penny Knowles, Executive Director of
the Wildling Art Museum, gave a free public tour of the
Museums current exhibition, Members Collect
II” on Saturday, May 14, at 11 a.m. The exhibition featured
paintings, prints and sculptures on loan from private collectors,
spanning the period 1850 to the present. Most prominent were paintings
executed by California artists in the 20s, 30s
and 40s, including a very nice group of
Impressionist-influenced works by Guy Rose, Benjamin Brown, Grandville
Redmond, John Gamble, Arthur Hill Gilbert and George Brandriff.
Knowles is an art historian and museum educator with a Masters degree in art history from UCSB. She will provide historical background and technical insights relating to the work on display.
