Spring in the Santa Ynez
Valley is a photographers heaven. To assist participants in
producing award-wining photos, the Wildling Art Museum sponsored a
two-day workshop, April 8-9, taught by Allan Hancock instructor, Joseph
A. Dickerson.
The workshop was open to photographers of all levels, beginner to advanced, and students worked with digital or film equipment. The class, limited to ten adults (or sophisticated teens), included a preliminary lecture session the evening of April 5, and field sessions the following weekend at scenic locations in the Valley.
The preliminary lecture covered such topics as lenses, close-up equipment and techniques, film selection, lighting with daylight and flash, photographic composition and camera support systems. Students got advice on the equipment and supplies needed for the field trip.
An optional post-workshop session was planned for the evening of April 12 at which time, students shared the images produced during the previous weekend and participate in a group critique.
