Participants could come with us by bus, or in
their own car, to Spooners Cove in Montana de Oro State Park
near Morro Bay. They Spent the day enjoying a picnic on the beach, a
nature walk along the bluffs with a docent from the Morro Bay Natural
History Association at 11:00 a.m., exploring tide pools, painting,
drawing, and visiting the little museum there.
If you wanted to ride on the many bridle paths, you could also bring your own horse! No permit was needed to ride trails.
The bus departed from Santa Barbara (La Cumbre Parking Lot at Sears side) at 8:00 a.m., picking up passengers in Los Olivos (in front of St. Marks Church) at 9:00 a.m. and returned to Los Olivos by 4:00 p.m. and Santa Barbara at 5:00 p.m.
To drive your own car, no permit was required, and you could park right next to the Cove. It took 2 1/2 hours for the drive from Santa Barbara, and 1 1/2 hours from the Santa Ynez Valley.
Participants brought their own picnic lunches, beverages, sunscreen, cameras, etc. The Museum provided extra cooling drinks and cookies.
