Again this year, the Wildling Art Museum offered “The Art of Giving” Holiday Craft Camp the week before Christmas. Melinda Weymouth, a popular art teacher here in the Valley, and Rick Drake, a Montessori teacher in Santa Barbara, provided instruction for students six years old through adult which assisted students in making holiday and gift cards (December 19), origami ornaments (December 20), a hand-crafted bird feeder (December 21), personalized gift wrapping paper (December 22), and delicious, edible treats for students, their family and their pets (December 23). This was a great activity for the extended family during the week leading up to Christmas.

The workshops were held 9 a.m. to noon at the Santa Ynez Valley Grange Hall, 2374 Alamo Pintado Avenue, in Los Olivos. Fees, which include all materials and a mid-morning snack, were $30 per session and $140 for the entire five-day series. If you were a Museum member, the cost was $25 per workshop, and $115 for the series. Only 20 students were admitted to each workshop, and reservations were taken on a first come, first served basis.
