The first Friday of each month, the Wildling Art Museum in Los Olivos, a museum devoted to the art of America’s wilderness, screens notable films about nature or art and invites the public to come see them free of charge. The Museum also provides free popcorn and cookies, wine, water and soft drinks. Reservations are not required, but space is limited and seats are available on a first come, first served basis.

“Microcosmos”

On June 2 at 7 p.m. the Museum screened the documentary Produced in 1996 by Jacques Perrin, best known for the film, “Winged Migration,” using unique microscopic cameras, and powerful specialized microphones, this astonishing French documentary reveals the secret life of the smallest critters, the insect world beneath our feet. Partcipants saw the insects up close as they scurrtesd around among the gigantic leaves and grasses, and heard the remarkable sounds they make, inaudible to us most of the time. 75 minutes.
