If you are looking for something different to do on a Friday evening and meet other people with similar interests, join the Wildling Art Museum in Los Olivos for its program Free Friday Flicks. The first Friday of every month, the Museum screens outstanding films about nature artists and wildlife with an opportunity for socializing and discussion afterward. Popcorn (naturally), cookies, wine, bottled water and soft drinks are provided free of charge.
The next program, September 2, at 7 p.m., featured Ric Burns film, Ansel Adams: An American Experience. Produced originally for WGBH Boston with sponsorship from the Sierra Club Foundation, this 100 minute documentary film follows Adams life from his childhood in San Francisco, to his discovery of Yosemite and work for the Sierra Club, to his receipt of the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1980. It covers his legendary approach to photography and the printing process, and provides an intimate portrait of a great artist and environmentalist—for whom life and art, photography and wilderness, creativity and communication, love and expression, were inextricably connected.
The film was shown at the Wildling Art Museums new administrative offices 2948 Nojoqui Street (near the Los Olivos Dance Gallery). Please arrive on time. For more information, call 688-1082.
