Nancy Taliaferro

“I have always had a passion for light and shadow, and how this defines a form, shape, or atmospheric quality. In my paintings, I often work with transparent glazes, over thicker vibrant paint strokes, creating luminous veils of color. Many of my still life paintings have a central object which brings focused attention to the beauty or intrigue of the image. I want my images to speak to each viewer personally and open the mind’s eye.”

Nancy Taliaferro is an accomplished landscape and still life painter. Her work is a blend of both realism and mysticism, defined by the evocative quality of light and atmosphere. Nancy’s paintings are intimate, yet universal, explorations of the mystery behind the natural world and every day objects of beauty.

Taliaferro received formal art training at the Schulers School of Fine Art, The Maryland Institute of Art, and received her BFA from the Philadelphia University of the Arts. She lives and works in Santa Barbara and the Santa Ynez Valley, and travels throughout the country, inspired by the diverse landscape and unique qualities of light. Her oil paintings are collected privately nationwide.
