The Wildling Museum is pleased to announce the dates for the 2012 edition of the popular and long running "Masters Program" landscape photography workshop, now in its eighth year. The weekend of March 30 through April 1 has been selected as the perfect time during the 2012 season to be in the Santa Ynez Valley to learn the "Language of Landscape Art."

The three day workshop incorporates a detailed look, through examples and in-the-field practice, at the principles, effects, and devices that history's greatest landscape painters and photographers created and used in making their world class art. The classroom work is followed by guided field assignments and constructive reviews. Taught by well-known and highly experienced professional landscape photographers - Tom Gamache of "Wandering Around Outdoors" and Van Webster of "Webster Communications" - students are assured a challenging intellectual and technical experience that will affect their work for a lifetime. With a varied and annually updated syllabus, the relaxed professional atmosphere of the program has attracted many different types of photographers including numerous multi-year attendess.

Because it is the artist, not the camera, that makes the picture, all types of cameras are welcome - digital and film, as well as small to large format. The course includes: advanced visualization theory (seeing without the camera), 3D to 2D (converting reality to picturees), black and white, filters, hyperfocal focusing, chiaroscuro, color, composition, centrality, light metering, atmosphere, exposure, f-stops, shutter speeds, and much more. Elementary Photoshop techniques, HDR photography, panoramas - their history and creation, digital fine art ink jet printing, along with hundreds of technical tips and pro-secrets will be discussed in-depth. Included are continental style breakfasts and lunch on Saturday. Group dinners are encouraged.
