Join Dr. Fred Emerson and botanist Larry Ballard for an enjoyable Saturday morning naturalist class!

Known as one of the "hidden treasurers," the class will travel through Coast Live oak woodland and grasslands on this 51-acre park at the mouth of Drum Canyon.

Noted naturalist and birder, Dr. Emerson will be your knowledgeable guide into the fascinating avian world and noted botanist Larry Ballard will be your knowledeable guide into the local plants. Together this dynamic duo will discuss the local ecology and natural history of the sites visited. The class is suited for mature children (accompanied by an adult and able to handle binoculars), teens, and adults. Fun and educational for the whole family!

Learn to make a beautiful gourd vessal with artist Cathy McGavin. Students will learn how to properly use a wood-burning tool and dyes to make their own designer gourd. Class is limited to 8 people, 18 years or older.

The Wildling Museum is pleased to announce the dates for the 2012 edition of the popular and long running "Masters Program" landscape photography workshop, now in its eighth year. The weekend of March 30 through April 1 has been selected as the perfect time during the 2012 season to be in the Santa Ynez Valley to learn the "Language of Landscape Art."

With special permission, the class will visit Rancho la Vina, an historic rancho situated in the Santa Rita Hills. The class will explore the area surrounding a natural, year-round spring and oak woodland.

Join Dr. Fred Emerson and botanist Larry Ballard for an enjoyable Saturday morning naturalist class!

This will be the last class before the break during the summer months. This two mile loop trail, some of it in soft sand, will visit a number of different habitats found within the park. We'll see endemic species of maritime chaparral (locally known as Burton Mesa Chaparral), including Lompoc Ceanothus and Purisima Manzanita. We may catch a glimpse of the Lompoc Small Blue, a tiny butterfly that is endemic to the Lompoc area.
