From colonial times to the present, the wilderness has inspired American artists. The Wildling Art Museum celebrates our nation's wild places as seen through the eyes of its finest painters, printmakers, photographers, and sculptors.

The Museum was the inspiration of visionary artist, Patti Jacquemain. Patti believed that a museum dedicated to America's extraordinary landscapes, flora, and fauna would help people appreciate not only the art, but also the importance of preserving our natural heritage.

Since its inception in 1997, the Wildling Art Museum has become a vital part of the cultural landscape of Santa Barbara County. The Museum has attained national recognition for its exhibitions, publications, and educational programs.

Located in the charming town of Los Olivos, in the heart of the Santa Barbara wine country, the Wildling Art Museum offers four exhibitions a year specializing in the art of America's wilderness. The only museum in the United States with this sole focus, the Wildling is perfectly situated within the Santa Ynez Valley, at the gateway to the San Rafael wilderness area, so that guests can not only enjoy the beauty of the wilderness as seen through the eyes of notable artists, but can also spend part of their day experiencing the wilderness themselves.

The Museum, one-block off Grand Avenue and next to the Corner House Coffee shop, offers visitors world-class exhibitions, an educational center, research library, and a large museum giftshop.
